TAFT - WARREN - BARBER -- I am a descendent of Richard Warren through the Taft Line. Mayflower Society will not accept line since no concrete proof exists that Henry Taft, b. 1801 is the son of Silas and Elizabeth Taft. I think he may have been baptized at New Rhinebeck, N.Y. but he is not mentioned in Silas' will. My line continues to Henry Taft m. Betsy Ticknor. Their daughter Henrietta married William Dennison Barber of Triangle. The Barber line claims descent from George Soule. Does anyone have acceptable proof that the Mayflower society will accept to show the relationship between Silas and Henry Taft?
I do not note the Barber family listed in your families of Broome County. William Dennison Barber and Henrietta Taft and their 7 children lived in Triangle Twp. Their son, Frank Demont Barber moved to Roscommon, Michigan in the late 19th century and I am a direct descendant. I have info on the Barbers, Ticknors, and my Taft line if anyone is interested.

Ebenezer TRACY (1762 - 1835)
I want to contact anyone with information on this family and their descendants with purpose of sharing information and sources. They are my three-great grandparents. I have information on many of their descendants and on Ebenezer's ancestors.
Ebenezer TRACY was the eldest son of Thomas TRACY and Lucy SPRAGUE, born at Sharon, CT, Nov. 5, 1762 (town records); married Electa HOWARD, whose father was one of Braddocks men in the French and Indian war of 1755, and died in the service. Ebenezer was a soldier and pensioner of the Revolutionary war, having enlisted at
Lenox, MA. He made application for pension, April 27, 1813, at which time he was 51 yrs. old, and residing in Chenango County, N.Y. His pension was allowed for three years actual service as private in the Massachusetts troops. A part of the time he served under Capt. Hunt and Col. Jackson. Ebenezer TRACY was one of the first settlers of Binghamton, NY. He belonged to the Whig Party and was an active member of the Presbyterian church. He and his wife removed to Ottawa, Ill., in 1835, where she died in August and he in September of that year.

TRUESDALE --
Does anyone have information on a Kate Truesdale who married James Swartwood ca 1859? They had a daughter Harriet (Hattie) ca 1860-1861. Who were Kate Truesdale's parents? When did she leave Broome Co NY and move to WI? When and where in Wisconsin did she die?
James Swartwood was married to Kate before he enlisted in the Civil War in Sept 1861. He served the entire time in the war and was mustered out in April 1865 from a hospital in NY due to a cannon injury (arm was amputated). As far as I can tell, James Swartwood never was in Wisconsin. He recuperated in NY from his arm amputation. I am guessing that Kate left Broome Co with their daughter 1861-1865 while James was serving in the war. In his pension application he states his first wife died "somewhere in Wisconsin" -- sounds like she left him and he did not know where she went, but knew that she had died.
As a widower, James Swartwood married 16 March 1869 Maria HILL and started a second family. Would appreciate any help with info on his first wife Kate. Who was she, and what happened to her?

Had sisters Anne (married William Hoyt) and Nettie (Annette, married William Baldwin). All listed in 1920 census as being in Broome County. 1900 census has Deforest, but it appears that his sisters were house servants in Tioga County.

Van DUSEN
--
I am looking for information on Jacob Van Dusen who was supposed to have been born in Deposit or Binghamton, Broome County, NY in 1825. He was married to a Jane and had the following children. Jane M. born 1848; Charles T. born August 30, 1850; George born November 15, 1871; Seeley Burton born October 08, 1873 in Bainbridge or Afton and died November 24, 1949 in Binghamton, NY; Ella M. born October 01, 1875; Cora O. born January 04, 1877; Minnie born October 19, 1880; Robert born May 13, 1883; Leah born December 05, 1884. There might be a generation between Charles and George. The 1860 census reports that there were two Vandusen in the Broome Co. area. Robert in Sandford and Stephen in Union. I would appreciate ANY information on ANY Van Dusen or variation of spelling from the 1820's thru the 1900's in Broome Co.
