Disconnected family members are one of the biggest stumbling blocks to genealogy research. This can happen for several reasons, including divorce, remarriage or adoption. Sometimes family members don't even know about the other people. Other times, they know some of the facts, but the records are misleading or incomplete.
This section will contain queries for adopted people, other than those dealing with Springer Hospital. Only the birth year will be given for people born after 1928. The queries will be placed in order of the child's birth and will use the child's post-adoption name for unknown parents, both pre- and post-adoption names if the pre-adoption name is known.
If you know of such a situation, please e-mail me with specifics.   I will add it to this section, assuming no privacy rules are broached. (Queries will be posted here, until they can be proven to be part the Springer Hospital situation).
COLE   -   CRAWFORD --
Martin F. Crawford is listed on the 1855 census of Maine in Broome Co. NY. In addition to his regular children, there is also a Charity Maria Cole, born circa 1852. Her relationship to Martin is listed as adopted child. She is probably the Charity M. Crawford listed on the 1860 census, even though there is a discrepancy in the birth dates.

HERZOG --
At some time during June of 1907, John Herzog adopted a child from the "Binghamton Home", who he named Frank Herzog.   An article in the Hancock Herald confirms the adoption.   No further information seems to be available, since the mandatory registration of births began after the date of the adoption.
"Frank" would have been born circa 1904 or 1905.

MOPPERT --
I am searching for the identity of my birth parents. I was born in 1969 at General Hospital in Binghamton. My adopted parents tell me that I was put in some foster care home in Whitney Point prior to my adoption by the Moppert's.
My first name I was given at the time of my birth was Gary *I don't have the last name.. or things would be much easier.. I do have a Birth number.. 139-69-081106. This was entered on my Certificate of birth dated Jan 13, 1972 when I was "officially" adopted. The certificate is signed by Joseph A. Sterzenger. (spelling?) On my immunization record, a Dr. G. Riley gave me my first shots on Aug 30, 1969.
