Dear Brother
Yours of Jan. 26. came to hand this morning. I was very glad to here from you agen and to hear that you was all well. I am as well as can be expected after bucking a very bad Snow Storm last Wednesday morning it began to rain at Night it turned to Snow the wind blew a real hurrycane it made me think of old Randolph Hills insted of the Suny South. the Snow must have fell over a fut in all but it drifted some and the ground was wet when it begun to snow so it lad about 4 inches deep whare it was not drifted. Thursday Morning.it is nearly all gon now onely some of the drifts are left but the Mud well you do not no eny thing about. Va mud up thare. if a man gets into the mud here he is like a poor calf in the spring of the year he has to be puled out dead mules and horses ly around near Camp thick as hops it is hopeful that we shall not have to stay her after it becomes warm our marching orders that i spoke about in my last letter was countermanded on the account of a large rain storm on last week monday. We exspected to Battle the Rebs on Tuesday. Franklins Corps was moving all day monday had thair Pontoons all down to the River ready yo lay but it rained so hard that the Artillery could not be moved so it stoped all movements it was the worst rain storm that I ever saw some of our Batteries got stuck in the mud then the Rebs stuck up a sine on the other side of the River Burnside stuck in the mud a prety good note for now old Hooker is in Command it is hopeful that he will get stuck in the mud for he is not liked eny better than Burny was The 137 Regt. are to Aquia Creek now I think myself that Free Masonry has a good deal to do with the war myself for all the Free Masons get along well enough in the army that I have seen. You may think it rather hard but I hav not slep under dry Blankets since last monday night but I feal very well yet all of the Boys get pretty well soked. George and Harper Dusenburg have done here to see the Boys they go home to day.
